Question
From:

Cheyanne: I found
your article about The
Healing Power of Calendula very interesting. I have a nine-year-old
Dutch warmblood with a skin problem that several Vets have never seen.
I have tried all of the suggestions and have basically hit the wall. I
am researching Homeopathic alternatives and would like your advice. The
history of the case is on line with the Horseman's Advisor at www.horseadvice.com/advisor/messages/
4/7161.html?WednesdayJune2820000750am ?
If you are interested
you can read the entire history and biopsy report as well as progressive
photos. The diagnosis that is most consistent is Linear Keratosis although
this is a very rare case since it is in a Warmblood. I seem to have it
contained but I am not seeing any improvement.
My question is do
you think Calendula could help? If not, do you have any other suggestions?
I look forward to
your reply,
Adonna
Answer
Dear Adonna I read through the symptoms that you have expressed in your
letter. It seems to me your horse could be simply treated with some Tea
Tree Oil.
You can purchase this
now at Walmart where they sell antiseptics. I suggest you scrub the area
well and dab the affected areas with the tea tree oil 1-2 times per day,
then dust the area with a little corn starch. The tea tree oil should
heal the area and relieve the itching. I also suggest you wash your saddle
pad in a non allergic soap and water and add a table spoon or so of the
tea tree oil to your wash. Calendula may do well on its own but cannot
be used in conjunction with tea tree oil. I suggest you try the tea tree
oil first. I may take a week, but stick with it, I am certain it will
clear up.
