Question
Hello Cheyanne,
I have a thoroughbred gelding who was a rescue case, and have two questions
1) He gets very anxious when being left behind or held behind when on
a trek, he is a soft horse who misses his mate when away from him, although
he is not unmanageable. i am trying rescue remedy which seems to be helping,
Is there another that may be better suited?
2) He is prone to skin problems, Rain scald in the winter, which we think
we now have resolved, but also dandruff, and just lately has broken out
in a bad case of either mange or has a very sensitive skin to ticks, he
has rubbed his skin bare on his forehead. I have just started the naturopathic
remedy Sulphur. Is there something else you can recommend, as I really
would like to clear it up quickly? His coat otherwise looks nice and shiny
and he gets regular doses of multivitamins and minerals.
Thanks

Answer
Dear Janice.
The Homeopathic remedy Sulphur should do the trick. With regards to fear
of abandonment, if the rescue remedy works but does not hold there are
a couple other remedies you can try. Homeopathic Aconite or homeopathic
Pulsatilla, which is used for clingy low self esteem horses. Aconite is
a big fear fright and anxiety remedy used for sudden onsets of these.
Being that he is a rescue horse, it may just take time and consistency
to build up his confidence.
