Bone Spurs in Fetlocks

Cheyanne, I have a 20-year-old Paint horse gelding that was diagnosed with bone spurs on the inside for his front fetlocks five months ago, both of them. He was doing a lot of tripping and finally went down to the ground with me twice so I decided to get the front ankles x-rayed. What we found was a bone spur on the inside of both front ankles extending from the upper portion of the joint and pointing like a finger starting up the leg. I was hoping I would be able to find something short of surgery that could be done for him. You can't tell there is anything wrong with him unless you really pay attention to him at a trot in the round pen. Then you may see a slight limp.

To cut to the chase, I am going to try Calc Flor and hope it works. Since I already have x-rays showing his current condition, in three months I will have them taken again and let you know the results.

Dear Juanna: Yes!! Please let us all know the results of your x-rays in a couple months. You will be pleased with the Calc fluor on bone spurs. Just remember to try not to re-injur the area and give it time. Calc Fluor 6c, 1 pellet dissolved in water and added to a water bucket daily!
