Question

Hello,
I am very new to the idea of homeopathic treatments on horses. My horse has a bruised sole (and generally has very sensitive hooves). I read that Arnica Montana is an excellent treatment for helping bruising. Is this correct? If so how much and how do I administer it - should I clear it with my veterinarian first?

Thank you for your time

Answer

Dear Amy:
Yes - Arnica is the remedy of choice for the bruised sole.
Homeopathic Arnica Montana is commonly found in health foods stores in
pellet form. You may remove one pellet and dissolve that in water and
draw the solution into a sterile syringe and squirt a portion on his
soles 1-3 times per day for a couple of days. This will aid in the
healing and pain. It will not interfere with other treatments. If you
would like to know what other homeopathic remedies are used in emergency
situations for horses. go to www.cheyannewest.com and click on the
galloping horse. There you can print the remedies and other veterinary
information for using homeopathy for acute and emergency situations.
