Question
To the staff at Today's
Horse,
Thanks for all your good work you do on this web site. It is very informative.
It has answered a lot of questions for me. Though I do now have a question
I cannot find an answer. I read the article on the Valerian root and it
seems to be what I'm looking for in calming a horse without sedating him.
The article made no mention where you can find this herb. Do you get it
at a health food store or from your vet or elsewhere? And how much do
you give to your horse (I'm assuming the amount given will be based on
the horse's weight); certainly don't want to overdose the horse.
Sincerely,
Terry
Answer
Dear Terry,
Valerian root is very common but you do need to find it in the size you
need to feed your horse. Buying it at the local health food might not
do the trick here; they usually don't carry large bags of bulk valerian
powder. You can purchase the Valerian root from Meadowsweet Acre Herbs
for Horses Inc. We carry 5-lb or 10-lb buckets. This is pure certified
organic Valerian root powder. No additives or sugars or coloring or preservatives.
You can visit us at http://www.meadowherbs.com/todayshorse.htm.
You can either call us or print out the order form and mail it in to us.
The dose depends on the weight of the horse and the feeding directions
are on the labels.
Thank you for your
interest
