Patti Salmon
Certified Herbalist

Patti Salmon of Shelbyville TN is a Certified Herbalist and applies her knowledge to equines, dogs, cats and llamas. She has been an avid rider for most of her life. In her teen years, she rode hunters and jumpers and how breed thoroughbred and rides dressage and events.

Patti specializes in EPM. Perhaps the most publicized of the equine neurological disease, Equine Protozoal Myeloencephalitis (EPM) is a parasitic disease of the nervous system. The serious and often fatal disease is caused by S.neurona, a protozoan parasite which is primarily hosted by the opossum.

Patti has personally experienced the ups and downs of EPM through her efforts to save her Belgian/Appaloosa cross gelding, Moose. Moose was diagnosed with EPM in 1996. Moose has been treated twice with conventional medicines and then supplemented with herbal remedies for the last five years. Moose has recovered close to 95% and can still perform dressage musical freestyles and do low level cross-country eventing.

Patti Salmon is the sole owner of Meadowsweet Acre Herbs for Horses, Inc, which has been catering to the equine community for over 5 years now with custom blended herbal remedies. Her clients range from the backyard pet to FEI level performance horses.

Meadowsweet Acre Herbs also has the largest website on the Internet today dedicated to the EPM horse, from the newest therapies, to the newest university reports on the disease. Patti Salmon is also owner of the EPM list - a mailing list consisting of over 400 EPM horse owners who keep in touch daily and offer the latest breaking EPM news and also support for those dealing with the emotionally and financial problems associated with treating EPM.

Patti is available for telephone consultations. To contact Patti, send an e-mail to: AskPatti@TodaysHorse.com
